Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Footlabs Ltd is pleased to present its second annual Carbon Reduction Plan report. Over the past year, we have continued to build on the foundations set out in our initial plan.

During this reporting period, we have implemented practical measures to improve energy
efficiency, reduce waste, and engage our workforce in sustainability awareness. While we
recognise there is more progress to make, we remain committed to continuous improvement.

Our second year of reporting demonstrates both transparency and accountability in how
Footlabs Ltd approaches carbon management. We will continue to set ambitious yet
achievable milestones to ensure that we remain firmly on track toward our Net Zero
commitment.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be
measured. This is the second reporting year for Footlabs Ltd

Baseline Year: Oct 2022 – Nov 2023
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.
Footlabs Ltd established 2022/23 as its baseline year for carbon reporting. As an SME, this year provided a foundation for understanding the sources of our emissions and identifying
priority areas for reduction. Our baseline assessment covered Scope 1, Scope 2, and relevant Scope 3 emissions, in line
with recognised reporting standards.
Baseline year emissions: Oct 2022 – Nov 2023

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following
carbon reduction targets.

  • Reduce logistics requirements by optimising delivery schedules, more use of clinical
    scanner technology
  • Reduce waste by implementing new technologies for manufacture.
  • Reduce energy consumption by new manufacturing technologies

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years by 19.72tCO2e by
2029. This is a reduction of 20%.

Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph below:

Investment in Additive Manufacturing Technologies

As part of our commitment to reducing carbon emissions, Footlabs Ltd has invested in additive manufacturing (AM) technologies, moving away from traditional reductive manufacturing methods that are more resource-intensive. Additive manufacturing enables us to produce orthotic components with significantly less material waste, lower energy consumption per unit, and a smaller overall environmental footprint.

We recognise that the transition to additive manufacturing will be gradual. Not all products can immediately be converted, and adoption will depend on customer compliance and acceptance of the new methods. Despite these challenges, we have begun integrating additive processes into selected product lines and are carefully monitoring energy and material efficiencies.

Project Benefits and Expected Impact

  • Material Efficiency: Reduced scrap and waste compared to conventional subtractive methods.
  • Energy Reduction: Lower energy use per unit in production.
  • Carbon Footprint: Incremental reductions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions as production shifts to AM.
  • Customer Collaboration: Close engagement ensures compliance and maintains product quality and satisfaction.

Footlabs Ltd is committed to expanding additive manufacturing across our operations where feasible. While full adoption will take time, this initiative forms a cornerstone of our long-term carbon reduction strategy and aligns with our Net Zero 2050 target.

Declaration and Sign Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standards for Carbon Reduction Plans. Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting1.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors.
