The National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics is a Department of the Faculty of Engineering in the University of Strathclyde. It was established in 1972 as a UK training and education centre in prosthetics and orthotics and now includes research expanding into a main activity.

Podiatry Channel Orthotics are orthopedic devices that are used to alter or modify foot function and are designed to treat, adjust, and support various biomechanical foot disorders. Some orthotics are simple, commercially-made devices, such as cushioned heel cups or insoles for shoes that are sold over the counter in drug stores or other retail establishments.
